Beaufort High Students Complete Student Police Academy

Forty-two Beaufort High School students received a certificate of completion on Wednesday, May 16th after participating in the Student Police Academy program sponsored by the Beaufort Police Department. The program is presented in conjunction with law related classes taught in the school. The police department has partnered with the school for the past 12 years in presenting topics to the students on police communications, criminal investigation, traffic enforcement, accident reconstruction & investigations, court procedure, internet crimes, drugs and police records system.

The program is an educational tool used to heighten the students’ awareness of the role of law enforcement officers, explain the law and application of the laws, and inspire an interest in law enforcement as possible career goals for some. The program usually run during a semester period with officers coming in weekly to share the information and interact with the students.
