K-9 Unit

 The K-9 unit is a unit that is often used by the officers of this Department.  The Beaufort City Police Department K-9 and the handler are specially trained in several different areas. Our K-9, Hunter, is most often used for Drug Searches.  Hunter is also trained for tracking as well as building searches and criminal apprehension. The K-9 unit receives specialized and continuous training.  Hunter is imported from Holland, this  Belgian Malinois went through 18 extensive weeks of training before the handler went to school for a six  weeks of K-9 training.  Now the K-9 unit is active on the roads of Beaufort.
